2023 Winter Break
Closest I’ve ever been to the Arctic Circle in my life. The scenery is marvelous, with no more than three hours of sunshine a day in the winter and long nights the rest of the year. I traveled by train through the national park and up to the glaciers, built up over millions of years. It was a once-in-a-lifetime travel experience. It’s hard to see anything alive in snow country, but I was lucky enough to see a North American bison.
Since the night sky is so clear and silent, the earth’s magnetic field gives its gift – the Northern Lights. Even though I was there when the aurora borealis was not active, I did see the aurora borealis twice.
